But what is left for Kenny to do? He's not going to be trying to get into the majors anymore. Maybe the fourth season is what it's like for Kenny to settle into a "normal" role of a husband and father. Actually, I guess you could mine a season of great comedy out of that.

If this means there is even a small chance I get to see Kenny carrying a baby around in a bookbag again and feeding it lettuce, this is great news.

Why would ANYONE not want to see more Kenny Powers?? OK, maybe Bob Duato.

    Fuck Bob Duato.

    Re: Eastbound & Down

When speaking to Collider this weekend, McBride revealed that they're writing Season 4 now and that it begins filming this May. He summed Season 4 up by saying, "The theme of this is basically what happens to the hero after he rides off into the sunset. That’s kind of where we’re starting this season."

While the Season 4 renewal was unexpected, McBride says he and Jody Hill will most likely be moving on afterwards and may return for a Season 5 years down the line:

"We said that the last season was our last season, and we came back for one … maybe one day we'd come back and do another one, but the main reason Jody and I would like to be done with it is there's other stuff, other characters we'd like to explore. Other stories we want to tell. That really is the main motivator. It's not because we're over the material. For now, I think we just want to try something new."

McBride also discussed what made him and Hill return for another season:

"We were kind of ready to be done with it after the third season, but then after we didn't really shut the door on it and HBO wanted us to do more, we looked at each other like, 'Well, this is actually a really fun gig.' We dig this. We dig our fans, and we actually had ideas for what we would do if we were gonna do it more. So, we're stoked. It's cool. It's another chance to get a bonus round with Kenny Powers."

I am so excited for this. The stuff that Hill & McBride do is on some other shit I can't even explain. It's something that normal people can get into but is still so rewarding for the nerd. When I watch their work I feel like I'm seeing something special and that it's just for me and only me to fully appreciate. Then I talk about it with normals and they like it too! I have no better way to describe my feelings towards their movies and TV shows. It's more than a scratch they itch - they satiate my hunger.

I'm a real comedy dickhead, huh?

    Re: Eastbound & Down

An interesting thing that came up in Anthony Jeselnik's Tonight Show interview: Anthony was originally supposed to play the role of the Russian baseball player that Ike Barinholtz ended up playing in Season 3. I can sort of see this, as Jeselnik and Barinholtz are kind of similar physically (and both have done impersonations of Dane Cook, oddly enough). Jeselnik admitted that he really couldn't do a Russian accent and wasn't a good enough actor to pull off the role.

    Re: Eastbound & Down

I always hate when I see people like this go on the Tonight Show knowing how shitty Leno is. I mean, it's one thing for him to do bad comedy and I would be totally fine with people going on for that (as I was before the Conan crap). But, he's actually also a bad guy and it just feels weird to be palling around with him when he's so gross. I'm not stupid - I know it's good exposure and it's all part of the game and whatever. It just feels weird - especially when I see Louis CK go on there. It seems like Louie would hate a guy who does stuff like that.

It all just goes to show I don't know anything about the business and I have no business talking about it.
