    Drunk History

This is the funniest show. Mark Gagliardi can do some pretty professional-sounding voiceover while completely shithouse.

Whatever happened to the Jen Kirkman/Winona Ryder/Mary Dyer thing? I thought would show up in ep 2. Was that just a web exclusive or something?

It will be in the series. Kirkman said on her podcast it'll probably be the last one she does because after filming the segment for the show she had a hangover for two days.

Hahaha I like that someone bothered to point that out for Drunk History. Are they going to fact check the stories next?

This is gross, but a small part of me can't watch Drunk History without wanting to turn every other scene into a gif. Winona Ryder alone had like 6 amazing gif moments.

Also, Jen Kirkman is the best drunk storyteller ever.
    I'm in.

The lip-dubbing is the best thing. It's so spot on.

I care more about the drunks than about the reenactors. I think it's a shame that the drunks get so little publicity.

    Re: Drunk History

As a professional historian, I wonder if the drunks are given any notice or give any thought or do any research beforehand about the subject they'll be talking about. I wonder only because they all seem to have a pretty good grasp of what they're talking about, despite the alcohol, and beyond that of a random person.

(Maybe if Kyle Kinane or Jen Kirkman poke their heads into this thread they could address this?)

Also, I love this show. And so does every other history professor I have shared it with.

I should also add that after watching Jen's episode on Fredrick Douglass, a friend of mine (who works on abolition) asked me where Jen went to grad school.

    Re: Drunk History

As far as I've heard, the drunks come in with pitches about the story they'd like to talk about. None of them are coached or have to study up on a story. Only those who have a story to tell (regardless of how accurate it is) are included in the series.

And I agree, Monty, that the comedians telling the stories should be given their due. It's harder than you'd think to tell even a little bit of a coherent story--especially when they're as drunk as they are.

Thanks, I figured it was something along these lines. The stories they tell are just too detailed (and too accurate, relatively speaking) for them to have come up with them on the spot. Either way, I'm just happy to see comedians and comedy writers embracing history.

I would love to see a one-hour Drunk History special with Brad Neely. Especially if he did the whole thing in Frank's voice while drinking ghetto blasters (finishing off after taking one last oblivion-seeking slurp).
