I was reading this anthology of New Yorker humor pieces called Fierce Pajamas (get it by the way; it's got great stuff from Steve Martin, Woody Allen, Groucho Marx, Simpsons writer Larry Doyle).
But I saw a section in the back of the book with comic verse from Dorothy Parker, EB White, John Updike and all these other writers. So I was wondering what happened to comic verse? Was Nipsey Russel the last to recite comic verse? Or (gasp) Andrew Dice Clay? Has anyone ever done freestyle comic verse, making comedic non-hip-hop rhymes on the spot?
Just wondering.
