    Comedy Rarities on Youtube

I know we have the "Comedy on Youtube" thread, but it's mostly for short videos and Funny or Die things and stuff like that. The idea for this thread is to post things that are obscure or that you remember from your childhood that still make you laugh.

I got the idea when I found this channel on Youtube which is devoted to off-air recordings from HBO from the early '80s. There's a lot of interesting stuff here, like a "Not Necessarily the News" special and "Rich Little's Robin Hood". What I'm going to post though is the movie "Pandemonium", which was one of my favorite silly comedies when I was a kid. It's a parody of slasher movies like "Friday the 13th" and their ilk, but the humor in it is very gentle and goofy for the most part.

Here's the first part. The movie stars Paul Reubens, Tommy Smothers, Carol Kane, and Judge Reinhold, with lots of cameos by other people (watch for Phil Hartman near the beginning). If you've never seen it before, you're in for a treat.

*cough* No one else wants to contribute anything?

Well, until this thread takes off, here's another one of my favorite pieces of comedy, from the Higgins Boys & Gruber HBO special, "Sex Survey":

It's my understanding that Hardware Wars also used to show on HBO between movies.

Here's Joel Hodgson's "TV Wheel". Kind of amazing how many people were involved with this, including AST's own Doug Benson:

    Jekyl and Hyde Together again:

There is one thing from my HBO youth I haven't seen in forever that maybe someone here can find... Bob Nelson had a comedy special where he would enter this makeshift house and pop out of each window or door as a different character... anyone remember this?

At one point, he is a kid yelling for his mom to bring him toilet paper and I remember as a kid just fucking dying at this... just dying... tears.

I remember this too. Doesn't look like it's on Youtube, but here's a promo for it:

Resurrecting this thread to post this really interesting article about "The Jenny McCarthy Show", which ran briefly on MTV in the late '90s. People involved with the show: Chris Hardwick, Brian Posehn, Jon Benjamin, Jon Glaser, Will Forte.

This sketch was written by Glaser and also features John Ennis and Jay Johnston. I give you "Dead Invisible People":

    Ok, keeping this thread alive:

If you want to know what my sense of humor was like as a kid, here it is. I used to find this hilarious and wore the video tape out watching it over and over.

    Re: Comedy Rarities on Youtube

Ok, for this post I've chosen something that has just recently come out on DVD.
It's "Hey Vern, It's Ernest!" , the Saturday morning live-action series featuring Jim Varney's Ernest P. Worrell character.

This show ran very briefly Saturday mornings on CBS, from September to December 1988.
Varney appears in the series as several characters, not just Ernest but Auntie Nelda, Dr. Otto (who also appeared in his own spin-off movie ), Sergeant Glory (a gruff drill sergeant character), and Baby Ernest.

Gailard Sartain and Bill Byrge reprise their characters of Chuck and Bobby from the Ernest films, and Sartain also appears as other characters, such as Matt Finish, photographer at large, and Lonnie Don, a Hollywood sound effects artist who teaches how to do various sound effects, which all involve placing his hand over his mouth and blowing a raspberry.

Overall this show wasn't quite up to the level of "Pee Wee's Playhouse" or "The Weird Al Show", but it's worth a look. Here's the first episode:

Chris Farley, Picking up Girls - From an old tape of Chris Farley. One of the more hilarious videos he ever made before he starting making movies.

I think maybe I'll try to update this thread every Friday from now on.

Here's today's clip; it's Amy Poehler as Andy Richter's little sister on Conan. Andy Daly appears as her Bible Camp buddy:
