Bill Burr - "Let It Go"

I never know whether or not I should be as excited about a comedians new special when it's on Com Central. I've kind of come to the conclusion that no matter who the comic is or how much I respect and enjoy them, I may be extremely let down by any special done by the network.

Well, I'm extremely happy after just watching Burr's. He's as good as ever, and I thought all of the topics and stories were excellent. I didn't get irritated with poor edits or crowd reaction shots like I usually would watching a Com Central special. Maybe I'm just in a good mood, wo knows, but I'm of the opinion that this special was awesome.

    Anyone else watch?

I did. His work is now getting more narrow and more specific. Which makes him hit things more on head.
But man, if you dislike a premise, which you shouldn't, strap in because he will take it as far as he needs until he fits his point.

Great special. And there haven't been a lot of good DVD's this year. Paul F Tompkins and Lewis Black's were good, but the first has no release date yet. "Hilarious" comes out next year.

Bill Burr "Let It Go" comes out on DVD October 5.

I loved the way he takes the dog story "as far as he needs" and then... well I won't ruin it for others, but that story was great.

I'm a big Bill Burr fan, so I had to watch regardless of how it was premiered to me. But I do agree about the Comedy Central thing, but I'm just glad it's coming out soon to DVD, where I'll be picking it up.

Personally I never watch them on Comedy Central, I either buy it on DVD or wait for it to air on the Secret Stash. I don't mind Comedy Central specials, I just am always irritated by the censors, commercials, and cuts. I saw "Let It Go" about a month ago on the press site, and it was great! No commercials and much less censorship.

The commercials and cutting can get so annoying, but I DVR'd it and watched it later with Fast Forwarding, but I turned my tv on and did something else just so the premiere to add to its ratings. Merely support. I can't wait to see how the DVD compares.

The thing about me is that I'm incapable of doing this. I know I would be much happier doing it this way, but shit!! Burr's on tv like, right now, and he's saying new things I've never heard him say before! So after that thought gets me to sit down and turn it on, the kicking of myself begins about 3 minutes later during the first commercial in which the white and black guy have gone to Taco Bell together at lunch and have quite the awkward run-in with the lady that they usually buy sandwiches from at the office. 11 minutes later... exact same commercial to kick off the commercil break. At this point I record, walk away for 15 minutes so that I can rewind with dvr and then have saved time to skip through next commercial break.

I'm so glad those Epix people put that special of CK's onlne and gave free access. I woulda gone nuts. The one thing that I apparently will have to wait for because I still can't find a real/ working copy, is that Joan Rivers "Piece of Work" documentary.

Looking up at all that text makes me wonder what the hell I really just wrote that required that many words.

I missed the instructions/link for how to access the Louis CK special - is that still available for viewing?

I'm sure that "Piece Of Work" will make it to DVD and since I missed the film the one week it was here (podunk!) I will be buying that in a heartbeat.

Yeah, Hilarious will stay up for awhile. All you have to do, is go to Epix website, and get a 7day pass.http://www.epixhd.com/invite/

Does that really work unless you're a designated Nielsen (or equivalent) household?

I have no clue. I remember Louis CK had a tweet when "Chewed Up" premiered on Comedy Central that said, "Turn it on your TV and leave." So it might.

Best special of his yet. He did 20 minutes on dogs live at Comix when I saw him and he still kept a big portion of it. Might I add he is the most improved comic in a long time. Most comics either get worse by album or only slightly better because they are always close to perfect. The difference in quality between this and Emotionally Unavailable is night and day.

I think Louis is misinformed on the process. http://www.howstuffworks.com/question433.htm

The article does mention that "at times Nielsen calls thousands of households to see if their TV sets are on and who is watching." So, unless you know that you've got a Nielsen box at home, all you need to do is promise to say you're watching Bill or Louis when you get the call.

Does anyone know what stores are carrying the physical copy of this DVD? I was at the show in SF where he recorded this and I've missed both airings on Comedy Central, so I really wanted to buy it today. So far I've called my local Target, Walmart, Best Buy and indy record store and none of them have it. Where the fuck is it!?

I loved this special and not just because, I'm a huge Burr fan, seeing him at an Eating it where he destroyed NYC for sure, and than afterwards at Camden when he ranted against Philly for one of my favorite youtube videos ever. I listen to his podcast and will be seeing him next time he comes around.
