Between Two Ferns: A Fairytale of New York

As announced on Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast, Comedy Central (and presumably Funny or Die) are getting all Barbara Walters on your ass and bringing you a brand new Between Two Ferns interview special before "The Comedy Awards".

The series makes its jump to television with a half hour special titled "Between Two Ferns: A Fairytale of New York", and will feature host Zach Galifianakis interviewing Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, and Sir Richard Branson*. This will also be Scott Aukerman’s TV directing debut, so congrats to him.

Look for it May 6th at 8:30 pm before The Comedy Awards.

*It remains to be seen whether this is a joke. Somebody in character maybe? PFT? He's good at playing Sirs. Bill Hader?

Does anyone else feel the Between Two Ferns concept doesn't quite work anymore now that everyone knows who Zach is?

I don't think so...the people he was interviewing were always in on the joke anyway, if I'm not mistaken

I know, sacrilege.

But the point of Beyond Two Ferns is that Zach's a hostile jerk and a bad/inappropriate interviewer, not that he's less famous than the guest, or some random nobody. Most of them have been, or have at least been portrayed as, friends and previous associates of Zach's. And not only are the people he's interviewing "in on the joke," the whole thing is at a minimum pre-storylined like a wrestling match, and may even be pre-scripted.

I guess what I'm saying is, "No."

I find it hard to believe Comedy Central wouldn't immediately greenlight a series starring Zach if he was interested (which I'm guessing he's not)

The url for the show did say season 1, episode 1, but I suspect stevenac is right that Zach is not interested in a series. Maybe an occasional special, though, given that Hot Saucerman has his own show.

What;s your trick to see this in Sweden? I'm in Canada and no can see. Maybe because we have an affiliate network (comedynetwork.ca).. Or do I have to get out my spoof suit and dance for the internet gate keeper?

also: I think I'm going to get one of these types of ferns to place next to my work desk at home. Just a lil sight gag for myself
