    A Bad Situationist

    http://www.abadsituationist.com/

Angered by the 2000 Presidential election, Arthur, the unemployed son of Senator Joe Lieberman, is installed in a NYC apartment, with the hopes that he will "lay low." Striving to be relevant, Arthur starts an intellectual salon based on what he reads on the back cover of books written by the Situationist International. Soon he is encouraged to commit violent acts by radical orthodox Jewish postal workers, a former stereo salesman and some Charlie Rose interns.

The film has become, in the words of the Situationist International "A history of the immediate future."

Hmm, this can't end well. One thing you do NOT want to do is piss off the Situationist International. The Situationists make that Scientology bunch look like a student film filled with student lawyers throwing student pipe bombs. The Situationists will slice you and dice you and put a corpse in your mouth. They will take your most cherished cartoons and assign political slogans to them. They will appropriate old westerns and kung fu movies, and make the characters speak anachronistic Maoist propaganda relating to the minutiae of French politics circa 1960 that nobody outside of two professors at the Sorbonne understands. Is that what you want, guy? I think not, so burn this film, NOW!

Oh, and be realistic, demand the impossible. That is all.

Damn. Up until that point, I almost thought this was a description of something real.

I actually saw this a while before it was released, because my boyfriend edited it. Sadly, it had just been sitting alone and unwatched on his external hard drive.

David Cross, Jon Benjamin, and Ross Brockley were my personal favorites. Marc Maron is great. I'm not sure if the outtakes made it to the DVD, but I also got to see about 45 awesome minutes of David Cross riffing about masturbating.

It's definitely something to check out, if just for the sheer amount of comedy talent in one place.

Mainly, I'd like recommend it on this major point:

    Famous standup in blackface.
