Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening

NEW YORK, December 11, 2009 -- COMEDY CENTRAL is about to get up close and personal with Aziz Ansari. Filmed in front of a packed house at the Brentwood Theater in Los Angeles, the World Television Premiere of "Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening" debuts Sunday, January 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Coming off of his phenomenal breakout year, COMEDY CENTRAL is bringing critically-acclaimed comedian and actor Aziz Ansari (“Parks and Recreation,” “Funny People”) to the stage where he’ll discuss topics ranging from sheets with fraudulent thread counts to the chubbiness of his young cousin, Harris, in this brand-new, one-hour stand-up special.

On Tuesday, January 19, "Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening" DVD is extended and uncensored and released nationwide by COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. Bonus material includes a Comedy Death Ray performance at the UCB Theater in LA. "Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening" will be also available, extended and uncensored, on download-to-own platforms including iTunes (pre-order Tuesday, January 5) and Amazon Video On Demand, as well as in standard and high definition versions on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, Zune and PlayStation Store.

Also on January 19, COMEDY CENTRAL Records will release the CD of "Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening." The CD will also be available on iTunes.

Recently named one of Entertainment Weekly’s top future stars of comedy, Ansari exploded onto the entertainment scene this year. Aside from his current starring role opposite Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones in NBC’s critically-acclaimed series “Parks and Recreation,” Ansari’s television credits also include MTV’s hit sketch comedy series “Human Giant,” a guest starring role on HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords” and a multi-episode arc on ABC’s “Scrubs.” His feature film credits include “I Love You, Man” with Paul Rudd and Jason Segel, “Observe and Report” with Seth Rogen and Anna Faris and “Funny People” opposite Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen, from which the character “Raaaaaaaandy” was born. The popularity of this character has even led Judd Apatow to commission a series of “Raaaaaaaandy” based mockumentaries which have been released on FunnyOrDie.com. Most recently, it was announced that Judd Apatow and Universal Pictures have picked up a trio of comedy pitches from Ansari and Jason Woliner, with Ansari attached to star and Woliner to direct. Ansari won the Jury Award for Best Stand-Up at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in 2006, was selected for Rolling Stone’s annual “Hot List” as their choice for “Hot Stand-Up” in 2005 and Paste Magazine recently named him one of the “Top 10 Comedians of the Decade.”

“Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening” is sponsored by Kia Motors on January 17th.

Aziz's new Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening DVD is fucking hysterical, even better than I expected it to be, and I'm a huge Human Giant fan. His encore as Raaaaaaaandy wasn't all that funny, but there's a lot of more subtle parody of other comedians in his performance of the character.

    His Kanye bits are great.

I kind of agree with you. "296?! I almost SLEPT on that sheet!" sounds even funnier, somehow, than the way "RAAAAAAAANDY" tells it. Either way, though -- hilarious.

On Jimmy Kimmel, yesterday he was describing his experience about going to the R.Kelly show, it's a funny bit that he's performed live before. Aziz is really great at telling these long-winded but hilarious tales. I'm wondering if the R. Kelly stuff is on the DVD.

I'm assuming I've heard most of the stuff from the DVD because I've seen him live during his glow in the dark tour. I do want to see the Randy encore because he's got like a sequin outfit and full DJ. They should have thrown in the whole DJ and sequin angle into Funny People, but I guess maybe the Randy movie will have to do.

Human Giant was on MTV which is thru Viacom which also owns CC, I don't know why it took this long for Human Giant to end up on this network.

Re: Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening

I just watched the whole thing on Comedy Central's Screening Room site (which I can't link to under penalty of law!!! But Google it because they've got some pretty good stuff up right now.) and it was pretty funny.

The thing is, I'd seen or heard a lot of the bits before done as Raaaaaaaandy or from watching Aziz being interviewed on late night shows or on podcasts.
Still, the special was very very funny. The new material that I HADN'T heard before was hilarious.

I also entered a contest to win the CD/DVD (not sharing details because I want to win and am a filthy opportunist who plays the numbers game). If I DON'T win it, I may still pick it up.

    Overall - good stuff.

I think it's probably a lot more like his actual voice snuck into Raaaandy's.
