    Arrested Development

Let's make a new thread for this.

Last night, Jason Bateman tweeted this picture, along with the message:

"Taken at AD mission control, today! All systems are go. Filming for the new episodes starts in four weeks. Woo!"

Ron Howard added a slightly different version of the same picture:

and a photo of the writers' room where you can see all the colored cards representing plotlines for the upcoming episodes:

I hope they dropped that whole "one character per episode" idea. That would drive me crazy. I am dying for more AD, but I have no interest in watching 22 episodes of Maebe adventures without any of the other cast involved.

I have to admit that the long drawn out process of all this AD business had kind of cooled me on the whole thing, but hearing that Paul Rust is writing is actually getting me excited all over again.

This has me in the mood to watch the DVDs in a binge viewing session.

    Rolling Stone interview with David

I think it's going to be 13 episodes, not 10. There's too much story. Some characters will have two-parters. Everybody sort of participates, sometimes in a bigger way and sometimes in a tiny little thread that goes through everybody else's stories.
I know what the stories are and what Mitch [Hurwitz] is doing, and it's so layered. It's really audacious and amazing. I think a lot of people will miss the work that is involved, the story, the Venn diagrams that are being created, the domino effect that characters have with each other in their various episodes. I know what he's doing, and this has never been done on a TV show like this. This makes Lost look like a Spaulding Grey monologue. You'll have to watch each episode more than once.

Did they seriously type Spaulding Grey? Is he anything like Spalding Gray?

I thought that they had abandoned the one character/one episode approach?

From what I have read the one character per ep system is just a jump-off point to classic AD hilarity.

If this is half as funny as the original run it will be a classic. Just sit back and enjoy the show, folks.

I still can't believe Netflix will release the entire season at once. I love blazing through entire seasons in one day, but always savor each episode much more when it's released weekly.

Yes, I'm sure we all had quite a hearty laugh about that.

If you all haven't checked out this article yet, do so. It collects everything that is currently known about the new season of Arrested Development in one place and is an incredible resource.

One thing I don't think has ever been posted here is that the 3 guys from "Workaholics" are going to appear in the first episode, as a trio of incompetent airline workers:

And Montez too! Maybe Kyle Newacheck (4th co-creator of Workaholics, also plays Karl on the show) is directing this episode? He's been directing a lot of tv stuff lately, such as last weeks Parks & Recreation.

I love this. Tobias looks hilarious. And Gob and Lucille look so in character.

Alia wins the award for "the one who has changed the most since doing the series". Michael Cera, though, will apparently be able to continue playing 14 year olds when he's well into his thirties.
