Comedian and opinionated audiophile John Frusciante hosts a revolving panel of music-loving comedians, writers and musicians for a live monthly discussion about the state of music past and present, what you should and shouldn't be listening to, and why KISS sucks so much. It is a guarantee that your favorite band will at some point be brought up, dissected, and either praised to the rafters or dismissed with the wave of a hand that knows how to properly handle vinyl.

September's panel features:
Moby
Dave Hill (Diamondsnake, The Dave Hill Explosion)
Jake Fogelnest (Sirius/XM Radio)
Klaus from BrooklynVegan.com

Break Up Your Band
Saturday, September 11th at Midnight
$5

Hey gang...

Heather/loti and I are going to be in NYC from Sept 30 to Oct 4. What should we see?

The only time we have available is Thursday late night, Friday all day, and possibly late late night Saturday.

I'm already thinking going to the Comedy Cellar is necessary. And we're considering going to Jimmy Fallon for our shared love of Morgan Murphy and Bashir Salahuddin (tho I admittedly had to look up his name)... and my love of Michael Blieden and Steve Higgins.

Where else should we be looking? What are the interesting shows/rooms? What's going on at Pianos these days (I remember going to some show there many many years ago across the street from the Robert Beck Memorial Cinema)?

Thanks!
JB

So I Like Superman

In 1938, at the height of the great depression, the world was introduced to the greatest hero of all time.
In 1982, at the height of Mary Hartney's post-partum depression, that character was introduced to the biggest, gayest nerd of all time.
In So I Like Superman, writer/performer/comic book nerd Michael Hartney tells the secret origin of his lifelong obsession with the Man of Steel, oddly mirroring the plot of Superman: The Movie.
You will believe a nerd can believe a man can fly.

Oh My God, I Heard You're Dying

Come watch as seven family members, friends, coworkers and a neighbor of seven weeks accidentally ruin their final goodbyes. Oh, and if Aunt Debra can figure out the Skype, she would like to say something too.
Written and Directed By: Chris Kelly
Starring:
D'Arcy Erokan
Michael Hartney
Marcy Jarreau
Here we will have the entire night to do whatever kind of crazy shit we can think of which includes but is most certainly not limited to...Karaoke After Party (hosted by Greg Stone!). Everything you loved about Too cool ...for School is still there, even our crazy sound and lighting guy, Facemask McGee (not his real name). So we're moving the party across the street only now the parents aren't coming home so early. Friday Nights (at least the 1st and 3rd) belong to getting faced w/ us, singing poorly and laughing your ass off w/ our always stellar lineups. For instance:

September THREE:

Kevin Allison (The State, Risk show/podcast)
Rory Scovel (Live at Gotham, Comedy Death Ray Radio)
Kevin McCaffrey (Late Nightw/ David Letterman)
Sam Morrill (Winner of Comix' March Madness Competition)
Ryan Hamilton (Live at Gotham, Last Comic Standing)
