Nice digs; still has that new paint smell too. An improvement that feels like home. Aahhh, change...

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" podcast now available to fans and foes alike. This week, find out which member of the cast of "Superbad" almost got some serious McLovin from your pal Mike. The episode is available at many fashionable internet outposts: http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com, for one. http://www.Myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy works as well. iTunes is another supporter/carrier of the show, and all of you regretful Zune users can get the show here: http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml.

Download 'em all and trade with your friends.

Also, if you aren't already heading out to the Austin vs. Chicago blowout at Garage Comedy this Monday, why not head over to the Quentin Tarantino burlesque tribute show I'm hosting? It's the Monday Night Tease at the 3 Clubs Cocktail Lounge, 1123 N. Vine in Hollywood. We might not have Dragon Boy Suede, but we will have Dizzy Von Damn. She's not as funny, but she certainly looks better in a G-string.

Yea, I will take Mike Schmidt yarns in any length he should choose. iTunes remembers where I left off and I can enjoy them whenever I want. Longer shows just means more shit to make me laugh.

semi-related, from Bob Lefsetz's newsletter, re: Coldplay at the Forum on Monday:

"I'm hanging with the manager of Depeche Mode. I'm telling him they should play the Super Bowl. How it's a perfect fit. They've got the audience and the NFL needs the edge. And Rick Rubin appears. And then Kanye. And then Jonah Hill. He and Kanye high five. It's like the cliche...does everybody in showbiz know each other?"

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" podcast now sitting next to you, reading whatever you're reading over your shoulder. This week we'll learn about Happy Lili, and why 10 year old Mike owes minorities a big apology. The episode is available at all of the places you love: http://www.Mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.Myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy carry the streaming episode, while iTunes is the place to go for subscribing. Zune users can get the show here: http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml. Hopefully you can hear the show over the sound of your technology becoming obsolete.

By the way, you can head over to http://www.comedyfilmnerds.com for my latest column; it's not up yet, as I didn't send it over until 2:00 AM. I'm sure it will be up sometime today...that is, unless they hear this week's show and cut me loose. Always a possibility these days.

New episode of “The 40 Year Old Boy” podcast now test driving cars it has no intention of buying. This week we learn the hazards of the public restroom, as well as the benefits of finding your true significant other. We also learn a little about sharing, and there’s a recipe for Pad Thai that I’ve been dying to get out there included as well. All in all, a jam-packed show; now, let’s check with Melina for today’s forecast…

You know the drill: http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com, http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, subscribe in iTunes. Zune users can head here: http://store.apple.com/us?cid=OAS-US-KWG-AppleBrandName-US. Oh wait, I mean here: http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml.

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now trying to empty it's Tivo cache in order to tape the MLB Trade Deadline special on ESPN News. This week deals with earthquake preparedness, and why nothing of the sort exists. You'll also hear about squab, quail and pork belly, but in what context? You'll have to get to downloadin' to find out...

Episodes always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, while subscriptions are available through iTunes. Take your Zune to http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml, fill it with ramblings, then take that same Zune to the Rose Bowl on Sunday and sell it for $4.00. You'll actually be coming out ahead.

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now recommending against Trader Joe's for your produce needs; seriously, bananas are supposed to last a little longer than two days, right? I don't care if they are more expensive at Ralph's, I'll be goddamned if I'm gonna throw away another bunch of brown bananas. DO YOU HEAR ME, TRADER JOE? I'M GOING BELUSHI IN "THE PRINCIPAL": NO MORE!!!!!

Ahem.

This week we learn why it's a good thing I didn't plug my Tiger Lily appearance last week, and what John Mellencamp didn't play at the Greek. As always, episodes are streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, while subscriptions are available through iTunes. Zuneophiles can take a day trip to http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml, where you can dip your Zune in the cooling stream and load up for the long, hot walk ahead. To where, you might ask? Why, to the Apple Store, of course. Some of you aren't paying attention.

http://www.Comedyfilmnerds.com is also still setting the Internet on fire; hopefully I'll have something new up this week. Here's the review I wrote for "Step Brothers" that didn't make the site: Why, Will? Why? They thought the second "why" was a bit much.

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now finally caught up on "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report". As great as those shows are, watching eight of each in a day is a little much. Now, Nation, let's get to the plugs: here it is, your moment of 40 Year Old Zen...

This week we delve into late-night television and past night's rendezvous'. It's interesting; I tell these stories from my life thinking everyone must relate, everyone has had weird stuff happen to them, then I get letters from people who act like they've just listened to a car accident. I'm sure this week will be no exception, but let's all try to get through this together, shall we?

As always, episodes are streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, while subscriptions are available through iTunes. Have you heard about http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml? It's where all the cool kids are going to get the show for their Zunes. I'm kidding; we all know none of the cool kids own Zunes...unless it's ironically, of course.

Visit http://www.Comedyfilmnerds.com sometime this weekend for my exclusive review of "Tropic Thunder". Come see if the word "cantankerous" makes an appearance.

New episode of “The 40 Year Old Boy” now amazed that people are surprised Mark Spitz said he would race Michael Phelps to a draw. Look, professional athletes are like guys talking about getting laid: they are never out of their league, and never willing to concede defeat. They always feel they have a shot. In fact, if Spitz were being honest, he would admit that he thinks he’s got a shot to beat Phelps now. Oh, and by the way, its swimming-can we all calm down? These guys are “Marco” and “Polo” away from playing hide and seek.

This week we learn how to not do your job and how to REALLY not do your job. Episodes are always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, or you can subscribe through iTunes, the miracle of the modern age. Those who own a Zune-the bane of the modern age’s existence-can use http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml to get the episode. While you’re there, tell the Switchpod folks I said hello. We’ve never met, but tell them I’m the guy responsible for sending all these strangers over. I’ll bet they know who you’re talking about then.

http://www.Comedyfilmnerds.com is also still doing great things. Live show September 5 at the UCB; make your reservations now. No, seriously, right now. I’m waiting. Have I mentioned Kashian, Elwood, Hardwick and Bamford? Oh, NOW you realize what “now” means...

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now wondering why none of the hipsters enjoyed "Hamlet 2". This week we make everyone uncomfortable with tales of making out, as well as try to figure out if wearing heavy makeup detracts from your angry outbursts. I'll answer that last one: it does.

Episodes are always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy. iPodders can subscribe in iTunes, while Zuners can visit this feed address: http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml. Here's where I usually throw a blind right hook at the Zune user, but I'm taking the week off from bashing for Labor Day. In seven days, however, all bets are off.

Remember that http://www.comedyfilmnerds.com is puttin' on a live show at the UCB Theater Friday, September 5th. Bamford, Hardwick, Kashian, Elwood, Mancini-the Five Fists of Funny, all in one place at one time. I'll be there as well, but the Six Shoes of Funny didn't sound nearly as cool.

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now hoping this week's Enquirer is right. This week explores the world of auditions, and what Hollywood thinks of our hero. "Our Hero" is me, by the way, but I'm sure you already knew that. My constant heroic actions were probably the tipoff...well, that and the time I flew around the globe really fast in order to save Lois Lane's life. The Margot Kidder Lois Lane, not the Kate Bosworth Lois Lane. The Bosworth Lane can't stop breathing fast enough for me.

Streaming episodes at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, subscriptions available at iTunes. Zune users can get the show at http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml; download it this instant and immediately double your Zune's value.

New episode of “The 40 Year Old Boy” now wondering how it would look with a neckbeard. This week explores the limits of my stomach pre-surgery, and my constant testing of those limits. Now, this post is only valid if Switchpod decides to stop cutting off the last six minutes of the show while uploading. Lili’s working on it as we speak…or as I type…or as you read. Any of those options work; let’s hope the uploading works as well. By the way, I know the title of this week's show looks like a typo, but in addition to its new editing skills, Switchpod is also refusing to recognize apostrophes. And yes, I want to murder Switchpod. If only it were a living entity I would take great pleasure in punching it in its formerly electronic face.

The episode is always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy, or you can subscribe through iTunes for the utmost in convenience. http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml is where you Zune owners want to be…well, there or a Zune repair shop, as I understand that some of those little buggers have been releasing poison gas. As soon as I heard the "ultimate band" challenge, I couldn't stop thinking about it! Great idea. And you'll be able to pull this off right?

At this point I know I'd have David Gilmour on lead guitar, and probably The Edge on rhythm, or whatever it is he does. Freddie Mercury on lead vocals. Bass and drums are tough for me to pick, but if I had six slots I'd have to have the recently deceased Richard Wright on keyboards. (Huge loss, that.)

I do like Larry Mullen (Jr., not the old man) on drums, but don't want the band too U2-heavy. So I'll have to ponder drums and bass some more...

I love this podcast. Don't know if I've posted about it yet.

I listened to 26 while in the dentist's chair today. Without getting too graphic, I was in a very painful and horrible moment when the part about the old lady's farts came up. The farts from the Depression. So funny, I was laughing as much as I could with someone else's fingers in my mouth, and an Inquisition-style tool making an unbearable noise that I could hear echoing through every bone in my head.

I felt like the masochist in Little Shop of Horrors.

Thanks for the distraction, Mr. Schmidt. Hope I spelled your name right.

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now suspending its campaign to focus on our current financial crisis. This week brings more tales of a misspent youth, with a little gay mafia and Rose McGowan thrown in for good measure. And yes, I really should start having a plan for these episodes.

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now letting everyone know Hanrahan's wife is a dyke. This week we deal with health care, Hitler and horribly inefficient customer service. A hint: the horribly inefficient customer service comes from Hitler. He worked at an A&P before the Holocaust.

If you like the song Gay Bar you should really check out more of the Fire album. Danger! High Voltage is definitely in the same vein as Gay Bar. Dance Commander, Vengeance and Fashion, Electric Demons in Love, Improper Dancing, and Synthesizer are really fun from that album too. The band took a huge nose dive after that and the following two albums were mostly miss though the song ‘I Buy the Drugs’ is probably my favorite song of theirs. But, I only write this since they are a very hit or miss kind of band since all the songs are so different.

The Scissor Sisters are another fun, stupid sorta electronica band in the realm of Electric Six.

To keep it on topic: I really love this podcast. It’s amazing that Mike is able to make pretty innocuous stories into fun stories and also mix in some of the most amazingly awesome, ridiculous and hilarious stories from his past as well. All the honesty is really cool too.

The show definitely needs more MMA talk though. The Chuck Liddell/Kennedy stuff was probably my favorite tangent of the show’s history. (That's probably not a popular opinion though.)

New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" podcast now reminding you that it might not answer your questions they way you want it to, but it's gonna talk straight to the American people. Wink.

This week finds us in Bolingbrook, Heaven and Denny's...although the Denny's is in Bolingbrook, so that's kind of a cheat. Episodes are always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy. http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml is the feed all Zuners should rent a plane to skywrite. Subscribing in iTunes requires no such drastic measures, but it wouldn't hurt you to hire a plane as well. Have it pull a banner or something, I don't know. What am I, the plane idea guy?

This week finds us quarantined, then publicly ridiculed, though not necessarily for the same reasons. Episodes are always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy. Wait, is Hulu for music? Who cares, it's a stupid name-suck it Hulu!

In addition to podcast fun, this week you can come see me at the Monday Night Tease burlesque show; info. available at http://mondaynighttease.com. New episode of "The 40 Year Old Boy" now wondering how he'd go over in London. This week we hit the road...well, we talk about when we hit the road in the past, and all the girls we've loved before. Actually not all the girls, just enough to fill up an hour or so.

Episodes are always streaming at http://www.mikeschmidtcomedy.com and http://www.myspace.com/mikeschmidtcomedy. Zuners can stubbornly continue to defy the odds here: http://www.switchpod.com/users/mikeschmidt/feed.xml. Those with a mature adult's MP3 player can subscribe in iTunes. Great Lordi-filled episode Mike.

I sheepishly have to admit that I had Stolen Babies on my hard drive and completely forgot that I bought it in a fevered dream from iTunes months ago. I gave them another listen after the podcast and they weren't bad in a dark cabaret way, but I can't see their kind of shtick ever winning over a Lordi audience.

Sadly, they are on the same record label, so I bet they put the tour together.

I was watching the Boise State-TCU Pointsettia Bowl game last night and one of the analysts sounded familiar. At first I thought it sounded like a friend of a friend, but I couldn't place who it was. At the end of the telecast I learned that the ESPN analyst I was hearing is named Mark May. I went to bed still wondering who he sounded like.

It finally hit me this morning. This guy sounded exactly like Mike Schmidt. Very similar voice and almost the exact same cadence to his speech, etc. Anyone else notice this?

Here's (http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3753123) a video that includes him analyzing the upcoming Rose Bowl. I'm sure there's more stuff on YouTube, but I can't access it from work.

Also, I was thinking of Mike Schmidt and his fondness for Darlene Love as she sang "It's Christmas(Baby Please Come Home) last night on Letterman. I couldn't find last nights performance, but here's the one from 2006 (2007 was the writers strike so no show).
