I'm going to be in Chicago for the Kristen Schaal & Kurt Braunohler show, and I was wondering what the benefits of a VIP ticket are as opposed to the regular tickets.
Thanks!

Thanks!

It's a general admission room, but the VIP ticket guarantees a seat in the first 5 rows of the center section and you can cut to the front of the line.

And, good call - that show is going to ROCK!

Thanks Ritter. I'm really excited for the show and am deifinately getting the VIP treatment.

3 votes

Todd Glass - in conversations with management now - should work out

2 votes

Hard 'N Phirm - same manager as Todd Glass, working on dates
Jackie Kaishan - was last here opening for Maria Bamford - gonna think this over
John Mulaney - tried to book him as a double-headline with TJ Miller but schedule didn't work out. Will look for similar opportunity
Louis CK - has decided we're too small for him and will be playing the Vic when he next returns to Chicago
Michael Showalter - great idea, on my "to do" list - was last here opening for Michael Ian Black
Morgan Murphy - don't know the work - need to research
Paul F. Tompkins - offer submitted, should come together
Tig Nataro - offer submitted - did you know she's NEVER played Chicago???

1 vote

Andy Kindler - will definately have him back - probably later next year though
Brent Weinbach - I like him - want to put together a 3-headliner type show though I think...
Brody Stevens - don't know him, will research
Chip Pope - don't know him, will research
God's Pottery - love the idea... have to find a way to do it that works for a 2 hour show
Heather Lawless - will research
Howard Kremer - will research
Jimmy Pardo - will inquire
Jon Glaser/Jon Benjamin - will research
Mark Maron - 1st quarter '09 most likely
Reggie Watts - offer submitted for December - awaiting confirmation
The Idiots - god I love those guys
Tim and Eric - love the idea - will inquire
Zach Galifianakis - passed us over for the Vic last time but I heard through the grapevine he had a bad experience so I'll give it another swing

Thanks everybody for the suggestions and the additions to my "to do" list - keep 'em coming!

Thanks Ritter!

Tim and Eric should be setting up a fall tour soon and the Empty Bottle shows were great but not the best venue from an architectural stand point, I'm also not sure if the theater seats might cause a problem? You guys do a great job producing your shows and I think they could film their show for a live DVD at the Lakeshore.

Maybe God's Pottery could open up for Hard N Phirm with a local comic as the host? I'd pay top dollar for that.

Morgan Murphy is awesome, she is in my opinion the best female comic out there, no offense to Maria

TenJay - you rockstar you... I love the GP/H'NP idea...

What do you mean the seats would be a problem for Tim & Eric? You mean how many there are or that there's not a mosh pit?

Will definitely look up Morgan...

As for DVD's check out today's Bastion :) IN THE WORKS (http://thebastion.org)

The Tim and Eric show was a "standy" as oposed to a "sitty" so i just thought it might be an issue for them for some reason, I personally think the Lakeshore is perfect for both kinds of shows.

Congrats on the production company, it just seems like the natural progression

This is the job application thread right?

Maybe contact Scott Aukerman through this board and network who the big names he sees coming through LA are. That would be dope. Chicago comedy nerds would be hip to those names fo sho.

I guess my request would be for the Flexpass (I just bought my third) to work for all shows again. I just had a couple of confusing phone calls figuring out which shows I could use it for and which I couldn't (confusing because of me, I should mention - not the staff).

Also - bring back Rachael Yamagata very soon - I missed my opportunity to get tickets and I have a disappointed girlfriend.

Thank you, Ritter and keep up the good work!

What shows does the flexpass not work for? I haven't been denied so far, but that was only 4 different shows.

I guess the pass just doesn't work for music shows - which are hosted by The Empty Bottle.

pollymaepry
September 24, 2008, 10:23 AM
It's way simple. I get confused around stairs so it's gotta be if I get it. The flex pass only works for the shows sponsored by Lakeshore Theater. Which is pretty much all the comedy shows. And nearly none of the music shows. Maybe none period, music's for the birds......

When is Zach Galifinakis(sp?) coming to Lakeshore Theater or anywhere in Chicago? Does he not tour a lot? Because that guy knows how to work with the crowd. By the way in case any of you haven't checked out the comedy thread but I'm new to the forum, hello.

Hello and welcome to the board.

Zach is not currently touring which means he's probably filming movie parts and TV pilots.

This thread will give you the most up to date Zach Galifianakis info, due to the privilege that is Marcia
http://aspecialthing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185

The last time Zach was in Chicago performing he sold out the Vic theater so I don think he'll be at the Lake shore anytime soon, but if there is one comedian who would go against the grain and perform in a more intimate setting he'd be the one

I saw him in a bar with 60 people and stood a foot form the piano, a life changing experience indeed

for the past year I've been hearing so much about the Lakeshore Theater. Every comic I know who's gone there has come back praising it.
This past week, through a string of fucked-up events, I ended up in Chicago (also my first time ever in the city). I checked the website and saw the TJ Miller was there for the weekend, so I decided to come down and check the place out.
when I got there, TJ talked me into doing a short set. I've got to say it was the best time I've had on stage in a LONG time! I love the theater and the audience was incredible! Now I see what all the hype is about. You guys have a great scene going there.
And P.S. all the local comics that went up that night were hilarious!
