The classic fill-in-the-blank game show gets a modern update! Two contestants taken straight from the audience compete for cash prizes, all while trying not to laugh themselves out of their seats. Featuring celebrity panelists from TV shows!

Not a parody, not a sketch show -- we're actually playing the game and having fun!!

Panelists:
Paul F. Tompkins
Matt Walsh
Chris Hardwick
Paul Gilmartin
Danielle Koenig
Scott Aukerman

Hosted by Jimmy Pardo

Nelly Furtado coined the phrase, "All good things come to an end." And so must Match Game Live.

As most of you know, Match Game is being turned back into a TV show, and the fine folks at Freemantle have asked us to stop doing our live version while they figure out what's going on with that. Many of you know we have friends at Freemantle, who is producing. And we not only have friends who are behind the scenes of that show, but our good friend Andy Daly is hosting. So we've decided that we'll take some time off from Match Game for the foreseeable future.

So we've asked some of our favorite panelists to come back for one last blowout show.

a match game recap (as previously posted on www.aspecialthing.com)!

when jimmy came out he got like a 2 minute standing ovation (one of 2 i've ever seen at the ucb). the house was packed and everyone was on their feet and jimmy really seemed kind of touched by it. we all sat down and chris said "wait, i didn't get a picture of that" so we got up and did it again. heh. right after that he introduced the panel - tonight's panel was danielle koenig, scott aukerman, chris hardwick, matt walsh, paul gilmartin, and paul f tompkins. danielle has some sort of sexy disease where her left breast is 3 times the size of her right (tmi?), and chris and PFT somehow ended up wearing the same suit (a summery poplin!). chris wrote a poem for jimmy about the last show! maybe if someone asks nice he can post it.
they call the contestants, and one of them is me! that was pretty cool and unexpected. the other contestant was a nice guy named jason, i think. we sit down and scott pins on our nametags in a creepy fashion and the game begins!
for the first two questions, i dont even remember them but i know PFT answered "abysinnian summer wear" both times. the round 2 question for me was an old man periwinkle question - "i was at the retirement home and my goldfish were murdered. i know they were murdered because there was ____ in the bowl." PFT's answer (a tiny wet pillow) was the best.
i would like to say at this point match game is a lot harder when you're onstage.
the round 3 question for me was "dumb dora is so dumb, she had a garage sale and sold her ___". because i'm retarded, i said "garage door clicker" when i should've said "garage". i got kind of embarrassed because i thought i had blown it, but danielle also said "garage door opener" for the first match of the night! jason got the question "incredible irma is so incredible she can do pushups with her ____". he said tongue, but all the panelists said boobs, so even though i fucked it up, i won! jason's consolation prize was a bottle of vanilla vodka that was 90% finished and a half-size can of diet coke.
so i stand up to do the supermatch, and scott said "well it's the last one so we're gonna double the money"! awesome! the question was ____ frankenstein. i matched with chris and won 10 dollars instead of 5 for the answer "young frankenstein". (danielle said "doctor frankenstein", and PFT said "what's up frankenstein!" also suggested were "bride of frankenstein", and all of alice cooper's back catalogue.)
time for the wheel - i "spun" it and could win 100 dollars, with PFT as my panelist. the question was tennis ___. i guessed "ball", and i was right! i won!
jimmy thanked us all for coming and received another standing ovation. i was really sad that it was over, but thankful that i got to be a part of it. this was without a doubt my favorite ongoing UCB show. at least jimmy is hosting "running your trap" and "the writer's room" still - his hosting skills are second to none - but match game live was really something special.

thanks jimmy, the UCB theater, and everyone who made this show so awesome!

"....everyone clear the theatre!"
There's a ruckus on stage, so Pardo saves the beer while PFT secures the cookies.

"he's just acting Paul.."
As Pardo gets into character, PFT feigns shock at the mysterious disappearance of Pardo.

The shock is too much that PFT needs to be restrained a'la Steel Magnolias.
