RECAP:

This is my SNL audition:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z65eWgyjLdA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z65eWgyjLdA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This me reading notes from you:

Charlyne, I can't decide if you're delusional or a genius or maybe some kind of idiot savant blend of both. At first, I cringed so much that I couldn't go to bed for hours afterward because I didn't want to lie awake thinking about it. Yet, I laughed honest laughter at your latest video. You may be winning me over.

Also, I love that Armisen seems to have nothing better to do than make videos explaining that he's too busy to waste time.

I would suggest stapling $20 bills to the wall in the background, as a very expensive form of wallpaper. Cover that with clocks set to different time zones. Keep checking your watch and say, "I really gotta go. I'm very busy and need to see my investment broker."

Of course, this is all satire.

i'm not sure if you're still looking for suggestions but i'll reiterate what i had said a week ago before the board crashed:

it's all about confidence. you seem a little timid and reserved in these videos; don't be! you have talent and you need to show everyone that you know it. it's all about the walk, not so much the talk. maybe you should read a billy crystal monologue from a classic snl. i bet lorne michaels would appreciate your research. if you performed a crystal classic in an assertive tone, i don't know how anybody could turn you down.

nathansmart
July 15, 2008, 9:21 AM
I think you should give it up. You don't really have the chops. I think the praise on this board is a little bit surprising.

Now, that Fred guy should DEFINITELY send in some tapes.

Have you thought about doing a cartoon. TV Funhouse is a big 'Home Run' for SNL every time. (Google that industry term if you need to.) You should do something like that.

Also, Fred is full of himself. Get over it buddy. No one cares about your characters like The Guys Who Go To Clubs and Do Coke and Hump Women or Mango or Antonio Benderas. What a rich and powerful jerk.

P.S. Don't give up. Eventually you will get on SNL. Everyone gets to be on SNL. It is mandated by the government.

Tell Armisen that according to my "levels theory" of comedy, if he does that improv newspaper comic character live on SNL without any preparation or forethought as to what he will actually say then I will deem it on the mysterious and often misunderstood ninth level.

I think it's all pretty good, but can you do something besides the "Asian girl" character? It's getting a little played out. I know it's tough to hear, but I went through the same kind of thing. "Darryl," they'd say, "stop with the doughey middle-aged white guy schtick!" It was tough because I was so attached to the character that I found it hard to let go. But no question, it was holding me back. The hormone therapy is kicking in now, but surgeons and pigment specialists are booked out pretty far.

This is a personal message I got on YOUTUBE today:

Your Saturday Night Live Audtion
Okay Charlyne Yi, here it goes.
My name is Evan Keller and I have worked a long side Lorne Michaels for many years now. We watch thousands and thousands of audition videos each year. Yours does not stand out in any way. You just don't have what it takes to be on our show. You have great enthusiasm and maybe you will make it somewhere, but Saturday Night Live is not the place. Fred has tried to tell you that politely, telling you he didn't post your video on his myspace but his staff did, telling you he is busy which is saying please don't send me anything else. He gets millions of videos aswell. It is time for you to stop, look into something that can make you money not in show biz. I don't mean to come off rude here but you needed to hear it. Fred says he would also like you to stop sending him videos.

Thank you for showing an Interest though
Evan Keller

"Evan Kellar" is an anagram of "Ankle Lever".

To predict the length of the gastrocnemius muscle-tendon complex from knee and ankle angles, three skeletal length measurements are required (radius of femoral condyle, ankle lever, and tibia length).

An anagram for "gastrocnemius" is "Racism's Tongue".

I think we know what's really going on here. Unless the anagram they were going for was "orgasmic tunes" or "rustic mangoes", in which case we don't know what's really going on here.
