Not that I'm going to make any observations that 100 other people haven't already made, but it's been a good season so far. I thought originally it might be too heavy on the back story stuff, but that was only the first few episodes. Certainly season 2's first few episodes were amazing, and it's taken this season a little bit to warm up to that level, but I think it's pretty much there now.

thursday night at comic-con:

5:30-6:15 [adult swim]’s The Venture Brothers— Jackson Publick (creator and voices of
Hank Venture, The Monarch, Henchman 24, Pete White and Sgt. Hatred) and Mike
Sinterniklaas (voice of Dean Venture) speak about [adult swim]’s original series, The Venture
Brothers. Now in its third season, the show picked up after the explosive wedding of The
Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend from the season two cliffhanger. Room 6B

this would be the first time adult swim's ever given a panel to one specific show - doc hammer and jackson publick always go to the adult swim panels, but they only usually get 7-10 minutes to talk about their show and then play a video. this is going to be really cool to get to see them discuss it for so long.

oddly, the panel you posted had no mention of doc hammer.

According to Jackson' Publick's blog (http://jacksonpublick.livejournal.com/), production has officially begun on season four! Hopefully this means we won't have to wait another 18 months between seasons.

Yeah, that's great! Venture Brothers is definitely the best show on Adult Swim now. (Shin Chan's a close second)

(I wonder what this year's cliffhanger would be, if there is one)

i know doc's not on the lineup for the panel i posted, but he's been at all the previous adult swim panels. who knows if he'll show up for this one. it's going to be really good either way though.

Hank's the best.

I enjoyed all the VH1 Classic references in the latest episode, but to be fair, I had to use the Mantis Eye website commenters to understand the majority of them.

I've been enjoying the amount of backstory that this season has been giving us, but it's nice to have a few stand-alones such as those in the past few weeks to keep the show moving forward.

Holy crap! Astrobase Go! is offering a new t-shirt design based on the Venture Bros. for each new episode they release this season! (http://www.astrobasego.com/) Unfortunately each design is only available to order during the week of its episode, so we've missed some awesome ones (http://www.astrobasego.com/shirtarchives.html).

I can't wait to get my Order of the Triad t-shirt, I'm going to wear that thing so hard!

Yeah, I was laughing out loud through most of this one for the first time this season.

I don't know, it seemed like this week's show was like half an idea stretched out over one episode. It was good, but it felt empty. Until the very end that is, what a tease!

Good lord... the Monarch and Dean interaction in this episode was everything this series is supposed to be.

One thing I do like is that the last few episodes have focused more on Hank and Dean that the first few, and certainly more than a lot of season 2. Plus, I love the casual familiarity between the twins and 21 and 24. "Okay, now I believe you're Hank's friend."

I am kind of sad that the Manatee (or whatever his name was) is gone already. I would have loved for the Monarch to spend more time with him. But, I'm certainly not disappointed with how it was resolved. I can't help but wonder, though, if the Monarch will be overwhelmed now. Not just because there are more scientists/heroes for him to fight, but because they're actually, you know, competent. The Monarch and Rusty seemed a good match because one's subpar organization (old musty gadgets) counterbalanced the other's (henchmen like, well, 21 and 24).

Also, "...like so much butterfly-themed Romulus and Remus."

Did anyone else hate the fact that Dermott said "Would you believe Brock's long lost son?"

JayRunner

That didn't bother me because Dermott was already told by his mom that's who Brock is. And the exchange between him and 24 that followed was pretty funny.

So what did people thing? I thought it was...okay. A little ragged, and JJ's new voice still distracts me a little, but I like the way they left things with the Monarch.

Best episode of the season by far, loved all the secondary characters roles and there were a ton of great lines.

Also, 21 and 24 were right...I do feel kinda bad for Scott Hall.

go nagai? Surely it was Voltron.

it looked like mazinga z and a bunch of other japanese robots besides voltron to me. maybe even some combatra or danguard. voltron's just the only show that got much play in the states.

i just thought it was a nice touch getting the aesthetics of 70s giant super robots down.

If you've never watched one of our episodes on adultswim.com (http://www.adultswim.com/), this is your week to do it!

Why? Because it's the only place (short of the season 3 DVD anyway) to see a full extra two minutes we had to cut out of the broadcast version. Far from the usual "padding" or "meandering bullshit" we normally cut from our episodes, these two minutes are actually an action-packed, hilarious and entirely self-contained scene that you will not want to miss! The new episodes usually premiere online at about 6pm EST, but sometimes they're up earlier than that.

The season 3 finale was last night. Thoughts? Overall, I liked it, but as with this whole season, I wanted more. Not necessarily more "reveals," but more humor. I feel like this season was a bit heavy on the backstory/revelation stuff, whereas the first two were funny episodes that also contained some of that. Not that this season didn't have funny episodes, but...I don't know. I was missing an "Escape to the House of Mummies, Pt. 2" or an "Are You There God, It's Me, Dean."

For this episode specifically, when the hell did Dean and Hank find out they had clones? Was the show ever going to inform us of that? it was done in such an off-hand way (oh, by the way, that huge secret that Doc and Brock have been trying to keep? Don't worry about that anymore, and don't worry about why you don't have to worry about it.

Also, I kind of hope they don't find a way to pull a lame, "oh, 24 made his way out of the car before it exploded" thing. I don't necessarily want to seem him dead, but I thought he and 21 were more annoying than funny this season, and that would be kind of a copout.

As for season 4, I guess we'll see what happens to Brock now. I really hope he's still around, but Warburton's a popular enough actor/voice guy that maybe he has other projects he needs time for. They seemed to hint that Dr. Venture is newly-empowered, something they've been trying to build on all season, I suppose. They haven't really shown him regaining his "adventurer" identity, though, only being forcibly reminded of it, so it seems weird that a speech from Sgt. Hatred would be enough to bring it all the way back.

Also, the Black Hearts. Black Hearts Black Hearts Black Hearts Black Hearts Black Hearts.

In other loose ends, I'd like to see them explore the "JJ learns how to become a proper super-scientist" angle, since the Monarch is still technically his arch and all. I also wonder if they'll get back to Phantom Limb at some point, and I also wanted a little more Pete White/Quizboy (though that may just be me). They also hinted at how Jonas Sr. died, but didn't really get into details. And I wonder if we're supposed to care who the twins' mother is anymore.

I'm pretty awful at predicting stuff though, at least with this show, so who knows.

Early in season two, Hank and Dean are told that the clones are their birthday presents, hence Hank asking his father if he could open his "presents" early in this past episode.

And 24 is dead. Evidenced by this week's (http://www.astrobasego.com/shirtoftheweek.html) entry in the t-shirt club.

I liked the finale, but I too was a bit underwhelmed. The buildup in the past few weeks made it seem like something important was going to happen, especially after the discovery of the Orb. They've been pushing the Jonas Sr. story to the side for long enough now that I think if they don't address it in season four they're just stretching things out all X-Files style. All in all, it's still one of the best and well written shows on TV.

21 and 24 is my favourite duo. Season four will seem so empty if they don't have a 24 backup clone!

I bet Warburton's place is safe, I think they mentioned in the commentary or somewhere that he cranks out a bunch of episodes in a couple of hours.

Yeah, they brought Hank and Dean back without any fuss, and I like 24 a lot more than them. There are a lot of super science possibilities.
