Give us suggestions and report bugs and whatnot in this thread.

I'll start:

Who's a guy gotta blow to get an animated avatar?

Automated backups are implemented. Never again will anyone have to die needlessly.

I don't get it?

That's the setting in the admin panel. It's set to yes, so if you can't upload it now, I'm not sure what might be preventing you from uploading one.

Can we get new smilies that don't have terrible gif dithering like this :(

that's not dithering, just bad transparency (made for a white-background board).

You're both right since the transparency matte is set to white and the edges are dithered. So get along!

We're going back to the old smilies that we had on the last board. Just give us some time to swap them all in.

Can I suggest that people let threads be created a little more . . . naturally? Like, let Jesse Thorn start his own TSOYA thread, for instance. It's not a huge deal, but it might be annoying to people who like to be able to freely edit the first post of a thread that's about them.

Threads don't need places held for them. The system works as is.

When posting shows for the calendar, the default time shown is GMT. Is there a way to have the event show the time for the time zone local to the show?

(Yes, I did put the local time in the body of the post, but the top line says that the show is at 2AM GMT.)

I don't have those problems and I'm logging in via http://aspecialthing.com. Maybe if you are logging in via http://www.aspecialthing.com (note the www) there are some cookie referencing issues since those are technically two different URLs as far as browser/cookie security issues go.

It is, though. If others find that it's still not differentiated enough, we'll change it again, but personally I think it looks good.

The time on the calendar should be the same as the time on the forums. Are the times elsewhere on the site correct for you? If not, you can adjust your own time zone in your User CP. Let me know. Right now it looks good for me.

Hiii. Why does my connection keep expiring in the chat? I check to see if it's that problem where you get logged off on the boards, doesn't seem to be. I don't mind that anyways, though going into the chat and getting logged off so often is kinda irritating.

It would be nice if users could delete their posts instead of just editing. I do a lot of deleting because I say a lot of stupid things.

Can you already do this? If so, I'll delete this post.

Jouster
July 21, 2008, 2:01 AM
We don't like to give users that option - it makes you think more about what you're going to post, which is only a good thing as far as I'm concerned. If you really regret it, you can edit it or ask for it to be deleted.

I don't understand the purpose of the "Advanced" post view OR how to edit a thread title after the fact.

The forum overview shows the old title, but the thread shows the new (correct) title. Could you correct this?

Under "Recent Threads" many thread names are cut off and then when I hover my mouse over them, it shows the contents of the first post rather than the rest of the thread name. In the case below, and in many others, neither gives much of an idea of what the thread is about.

I like how AST shows when it's a member's birthday on the main page. It gives me the warm and fuzzies.

I have noticed something alarming, however. It appears that many people's birthdays are defaulted to January 1, 2007.

My birthday is actually on January 1st.

I would like my birthday to be noted properly, but I am concerned all these yokels with their unset birthdays are going to show up too, and are potentially going to drown my AST birthday joy in a sea of names.

Is there some way of suppressing the display of people with the default birthday on January 1st, or is this already programmed to happen?

HOW CAN I BE SURE OF GETTING MY BIRTHDAY LOVE?

Signed,
