View Full Version : We're back (again)

Sorry guys. In trying one last time to recover the old threads, we wound up losing the new ones. This is the last time this happens, I promise. We're implementing a backup system just to be sure. It's weird how just three days of threads made it feel like good old AST around here. Now we'll have to rebuild again. Thanks for your patience and your help in this difficult time.

I'll second that apology, and that promise. I was heartbroken about the loss of all the old posts, and to lose them again only a few days later feels like being kicked while we're down. These things happen, though, and I hope everybody understands and can move forward with us in the spirit of togetherness (or something).

You will have to reset your password again.

i was totally writing a post and as i went to hit quick reply, the forums disappeared. i thought it was a little hiccough and went to the gym and grocery shopping (is my to-do list alphabetical?) and thought everything would be back up and running when i got back.

Where's the recipe thread? That's what AST is known for and if that's dead, there is no America.

i don't have a to-do list, either... well, i have a to-do list that says "write down things you should probably accomplish."

For the record, I set up an automated backup for the site. We're done with losing stuff.

Tell me that again once we have something to lose.

I was a little bummed because apparently people were talking about the Katt Williams piece I posted yesterday, but I missed that thread. Anybody remember what people were saying?

This is like that Mr. Show sketch where Bob and David have to keep awkwardly saying goodbye to each other.

(Great, now I'm gonna have to ask Meen to re-re-post calling Jesse Thorn a racist homophobe... (which was totally jk, btw))

That was so fast that people are going to think I have a gun to Meen's head.

Be Cool Meen, Be Cool and we'll all walk out of here alive...

I like to think I will repeatedly be referred to by myself as "the great contextualizer".

I never said thanks for getting things up and running again the first time. So this "thanks" covers both.

Look at how much time I'm saving . . .
(dicking around the internet).

I didn't see, is there any posts about how the old link to the forum is now about homemade sex movies? Good times.

Hooray for being back up... for whatever reason though, now when I come here in Firefox, it constantly logs me right back out when I log in... have to use IE.

For login problems, clear your AST cookies...

In Firefox, it's under Preferences > Privacy > Show Cookies

In Safari, it's Prefs > Security > Show Cookies

What kinda newfangled high-falutin' concept is this "backup" y'all are talking about?

I happen to be pretty handy with getting forums back up. Have had my own troubles in the past with YaBB and SMF. Anything I can do?

Just hack into the mainframe and fix everything!
