Re: "Secret" message from Louis C.K. mentions new TV pilot, invites you to attend tap
I was there too.
Just to clarify for people who weren't there, the "Bee Funny" bit went something more along the lines of: The show is going to be called "Bee Funny," and--is anyone allergic to bees? The point of the show is that the room is filled with bees and I have to try and make you laugh while there are a bunch of bees everywhere.
The show itself, from what I gathered, is somewhere between Seinfeld and Pulp Comics, with a stand-up routine that sets up different sketches.
For instance, he would do a bit, and then pause as everyone was laughing, and then say something like, "Okay and that's when the thing comes in," and then continue.
Although there was one bit that required him to give some exposition on stage that he acknowledged wasn't very funny, something about chaperoning for his daughter's class trip to the Bronx Botanical Gardens and being lost in Harlem with no clue as to how to get to the Botanical Gardens.
Among the funniest bits were stories about how he had to put his dog to sleep as a kid because it had a malignant tumor on its snout, and an operation to remove the tumor would leave the dog with a weird round head, and it would have to eat through a straw and dogs can't use straws. The story was one of many with a very nihilistic, sad-but-hilarious sort of conclusion. Very Louis C.K.
Overall, it was very laid back and informal. Oh, and it's a pilot for FX.
